York’s award-winning Christmas Market returns, bringing festive cheer to the heart of the city! Wander through Alpine chalets lining Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, bursting with local crafts, artisan gifts, and delicious seasonal treats. With over 80% of traders from Yorkshire, it’s the perfect way to shop local and soak up the holiday atmosphere.

This year’s theme, Christmas Around the World, celebrates the rich mix of cultures that make York so special. Hunt down 10 beautifully painted Nutcrackers across the city, each representing a different country. Pick up your trail map from the Visitor Information Centre on Parliament Street and see if you can find them all!

Step inside the magnificent York Minster and marvel at 70 sparkling Christmas trees, each lovingly decorated by local schools, charities, and businesses. Add your own message to the prayer trees and take a quiet moment to reflect amidst the glow. The festival opens with a special service on Saturday 30 November at 10am.
