Overview

York

This lovely family home has just been listed with us, and will be a real treat for your visit to York. Located just off the bottom of Micklegate, close to the centre of York, on the same cobbled lane as one of our favourite local pubs.  The upshot is that you have loads of light flooding into the house with views of the trees in the churchyard opposite, and a sense of quite seclusion despite the central location.

Saint Martins Lane was built in the 18th century and as you’d expect from that period the house is full of character. It has the stunning original beautiful winding spindled staircase running up through the house, period features, huge sash windows and light filled rooms.

Three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with the loft room providing the option of 3 single beds or zipped together to create a super-king and a single – the top floor is also en-suite.  The beautiful original beams on the top floor make this room a great den for the younger members of your group or a luxurious master suite at the top of the house.

With two sitting rooms, there is plenty of room to spread out in this house, and the outdoor yard with decking makes a perfect place to chill out in fine weather.

The kitchen is set up for real foodies with everything you need to share a family feast, adjacent to the dining room and the ground floor snug this house is a very social place to share with family or friends.

Laundry facilities can be found in the lower ground floor if you are staying a little longer.

Small private study on the first floor- ideal if you need to fit in some remote working whilst away with the family.

St Martins Lane is close to the train station which is always the best way to arrive in York. Micklegate is filled with amazing places to eat or grab a coffee and you are a short stroll from several local supermarkets.

Packed with masses of character, this is the ideal house for family breaks or groups of friends getting together to explore the city.  Please note there is no parking with this house, but there are a number of car parks less than 5 minutes walk away.

Note:  No stag or hen parties due to this being a quiet residential street.

Location

Micklegate

Micklegate is one of York’s most famous historic streets, once the main ceremonial entrance into the city. Kings and queens processed through Micklegate Bar, the impressive medieval gateway that still stands today. The street itself is lined with period buildings, independent shops, and a thriving mix of pubs, restaurants, and cafés. Just a short walk from York station, Micklegate combines rich history with a lively modern atmosphere, making it a popular base for visitors.
