Holgate is road off Blossom Street that heads out of York and becomes Poppleton Road and then the A59. This road takes you out over the Holgate Bridge and past the old BREL works. Closer to town, you can access this road from Platform 3 of the York Station.
There are many historic buildings within its boundaries, such as the Holgate Windmill, and the Cold War Bunker. West Bank Park is a local treasure, bequeathed to the City Of York by James Backhouse – at one time it’s tree collection rivaled Kew Gardens.
