Holgate Archives

Holgate takes you from Blossom Street/Micklegate and leads you over to the ring road in the direction of Poppleton. This road takes you out over the striking iron Holgate Bridge and past the old BREL works. Closer to town, you can access this road from Platform 3 of the York Station. Holgate is adjacent to Tadcaster Road which house York Racecourse.

There are many historic buildings within its boundaries, such as the Holgate Windmill, and the Cold War Bunker. West Bank Park is a local treasure, bequeathed to the City Of York by James Backhouse – at one time it’s tree collection rivaled Kew Gardens.
