This wonderful Georgian, mid-18th century Grade II listed property in the heart of the city strikes a beautiful balance between historic charm and modern luxury.
Set over four floors, this stylish property offers a generous amount of living space (over 3,000 sq ft) and a kitchen impressive enough for a professional chef. Castlegate itself runs from Clifford’s Tower directly into the city centre and is home to several excellent places to eat if you prefer not to cook in our wonderful kitchen.
On the ground floor, as you enter, you have a choice of two sitting rooms. The front room features a full-size antique desk, making it perfect if you need to work while on holiday, along with a wood-burning stove. The rear sitting room overlooks the beautiful enclosed rear garden.
The central staircase is a striking feature in its own right and leads up to the larger first-floor sitting room, which spans the full width of the house. This room includes a large flat-screen TV with surround sound and ample seating for everyone to relax and spend time together. At the rear of the first floor is the master suite, which features an emperor-sized bed (a super super-king) and a large en-suite shower room.
Moving up to the top floor of the house, you will find a further three generously sized bedrooms and the family bathroom.
On the lower ground floor is the well-appointed kitchen and a generously sized dining room – a fantastic space for entertaining.
The whole house is beautifully decorated throughout and offers a brilliant, flexible space for a group of friends or family to base themselves while visiting York.
Note: The top bedroom with twin beds features zip-and-link beds. These will be set up as two single beds by default, but they can be arranged as a super-king bed on request.
